Bali’s International Airport to Get New Air Traffic Control System

Bali’s Ngurah Rai international airport will modernize its existing air traffic control system with Harris Corporation systems.

The company will be providing a new modular communication system, which will improve communication between ATC towers, airline and area control dispatch, flight service stations, and mobile shelters.

The airport will also be installing new interfaces for the control tower, including touch-screen operator positions, radio interfaces, telephone interfaces, and a System Maintenance, Administration and Reconfiguration Terminal (SMART) position.

Harris was also awarded a contract to install the systems as well as train local air traffic controllers and technical staff to operate and maintain the new systems.

In addition to Ngurah Rai, Balikpapan’s Sepinggan International Airport will also be upgraded with the new systems.
