Escaping Tiger Causes Panic in Indonesian Zoo

A Sumatran tiger at Taman Rimbo Zoo in Jambi caused a ruckus on Monday morning after it escaped from its cage.

The six-year-old tiger named Peter roamed around the zoo as zoo staff fled in panic. The zoo was temporarily closed to the public.

Police and officials from the Jambi Conservation and Natural Resources Agency arrived 30 minutes after they were contacted by zoo keepers.

It took about one-and-a-half hours for the officers to shoot the tiger with tranquilizers, reported.

Aswin, one of the zoo staff, suspected that Peter escaped from his cage after being fed by one of his colleagues, who forgot to lock the cage.
