French Surfer’s Body Found Off Bali’s Geger Beach

The remains of a French national were discovered adrift in the ocean off Geger beach early yesterday morning. The body has been identified as Jean Claude Warrise (54), an active member of the French military from Arlachon, France. It was discovered at approximately 9am.

The body was immediately reported to police and transported to the Sanglah hospital morgue.

“We found his left leg was twisted with a surf board rope,” said South Kuta Police Chief Dedi Udiyana.

The family and French consul have been contacted regarding the incident.

Although the cause of death is still under investigation pending an autopsy, it is believed the man drowned while surfing. The surf leash still attached to the man’s ankle supports this hypothesis according to police.
