Sumatra’s Gold: Treasure Island

Dappled along the Northern coastline of the wilds of Sumatra lie a variety of different islands, many of which are well known for their waves already. Those further afield have the benefit of drastically reduced surf traffic while the waves continue to roll in.

The tempestuous Indian Ocean displayed an array of moods in the time we were there, and we enjoyed this particular spot from 2 to 5 ft. The surrounds are incredible with a coastline that boasts primordial jungle, spectacular reef where we came face to face with curious inhabitants of all sizes including turtles which use the isle as a breeding ground, and the loudest silence you will ever experience.
