KMP Citra Mandala Sakti ferry was stranded in the middle of the Bali Strait during a crossing from Ketapang in Banyuwangi, East Java, to Gilimanuk in Jembrana, west Bali, on Thursday night.
The ferry ran aground on a coral reef.
