Seven foreign tourists were injured after a boat caught fire near Padangbai harbor in Bali on Thursday.
The Ocean Star Express I boat, which transported people from Bali to neighboring Lombok island, was carrying 32 passengers — all of whom were foreign tourists — when the boat caught fire not far from the harbor.
The incident took place at about 10 a.m. on Thursday.
“[The boat caught fire] in Labuan Amuk waters, 20 minutes away from Padangbai harbor,” the port’s chief Ketut Arya Dana told Indonesian news portal antaranews.com. “We suspect it was caused by a short circuit.”
Seven tourists had been hospitalized at the time of writing.
“The other passengers were safe and have been evacuated. They looked shocked,” Arya said, adding most of the tourists were from the US and Australia
