Australian Surfer Dies at Scar Reef, Indonesia

Australian surfer Peter Luke, 27, was surfing five-metre waves off Jelenga Beach in West Sumbawa, Indonesia on Tuesday when he went missing. His two friends used the boat they’d hired to search for him and eventually found his body on a nearby reef. AAP reported earlier his name was Peter Lore, which they have now corrected.

Mr Napthine says its been a tough week for many, and his thoughts are with the families. West Sumbawa police chief Teddy Hendyawan Syarif says the surf at the spot known as Scar Reef was huge on Tuesday. Police were co-ordinating with Australian authorities to repatriate Mr Luke’s body, he said.
