A South African man, identified as Mark Allan Ramsey, died Thursday when he was washed off his feet by high waves and drowned on Pererenan Beach, Badung, Bali.
Dr Ramsey, who earned a Ph.D. in “leadership in performance and change” from the University of Johannesburg in 2009, was washed out to sea while swimming on the shoreline at 11:30 a m on Thursday morning, September 25, 2014.
North Kuta Police chief Adj. Comr. Ronny Riantoko Eppang said the accident occurred on Thursday morning at approximately 11:30 a.m. when Ramsey and his wife, Patricia Myrna Ramsey, 53, were enjoying the beach.
“People tried to give the victim first aid on the beach. He was then taken to Kapal Hospital by ambulance,” Ronny said.
However, Ramsey was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The body was taken to the morgue at Sanglah Hospital.
Ronny said that the victim and his wife had been in Bali since Sept. 20 and were staying at The Kirana Bali hotel in Canggu, North Kuta.
