As Bali enters into the Christmas and New Years Period for 2014-2015, the Ngurah Rai International Airport is adding more than 130 “extra flights” to handle expected holiday rush of passengers traveling to and from Bali.
Metrobali.com reports that Bali’s airport has prepared an additional capacity of 20,000 seats on domestic flights and 3,400 more seats on international flights.
Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation Ignasius Johan confirmed the additional capacity during a visit to Bali’s airport on Thursday, December 18, 2014. “Preparations as we approach Christmas and New Years in terms of facilities at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport are ‘OK’ – everything is complete,” assured Johan.
The manager of the Bali Airport, Herry A.Y. Sikado, said that requests for additional flight frequencies represent an increase of 7% when compared to 2013.
116 extra domestic flight frequencies have been approved to Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya, while 18 additional international flights to Bangkok, Japan, Taiwan and Australia have been authorized.
The additional flight frequencies will operated between December 22 and January 4, 2014.
