This year’s Rip Curl Cup trials are on standby from Saturday July 25 through to Friday July 31, and will be run on the best day of waves at Padang Padang, Uluwatu or Bingin over that window. The main event field has been reduced in 2015, to minimise the run-time of the Cup and capitalise on the best conditions available, and as such the one spot in the draw available for the winning trialist will be more highly sought after than ever, so please check in on live.ripcurl.com for the latest updates on all of the action.
Last year, the trials, which offer local standouts an opportunity to take on the best in the world on home soil, saw some of the best Padang Padang conditions and surfing of the year, and you can argue the case that the trials are almost harder to win than the main event, with the amount of talent in the draw.
Our official forecast partner, Coastalwatch, assures us there is plenty of swell on the horizon next week, and pumping Uluwatu is looking on the cards, so stay tuned for all the action and updates to come.
While you’re on the website be sure to check out our interview with last year’s winner Garut Widiarta, and see who else will be lining up alongside the defending champ in this year’s field, the strongest one in the 12 year history of the event!
