Ojek driver Made Purna (19) of Kuta was reportedly unhappy when Australian Mitchell Whitton (18), after an evening at Paddy’s Club, refused the offer of a ride as he passed by the front of the Hotel Kuta Bex, in Kuta Bali.

Purna, unhappy with either the refusal or the way in which Whitton delivered it, began to beat the young Australian. Unsatisfied, the Balinese ojek driver then found a piece of wood and continued to beat the Australian about the head, causing numerous cuts and abrasions in the process.

After seeking medical attention, Whitton reported the attack to the police who arrested Purna a short time later.

Radar Bali reports that Purna did not deny the attack prompted with his frustration with Whitton’s refusal to use his motorcycle taxi service.
