Shark Approaches Surfer Waiting for a Wave

The NSW Department of Primary Industries released a video showing the various sea creatures captured in aerial footage at Lighthouse Beach in Ballina, an area that has seen seven shark attacks since February 2014, including a fatal one, as quoted from GrindTV.

The video includes a juvenile great white shark as it checks out a bodyboarder and surfer; cut to the 2:03 mark for the close encounter:

The great white shark follows the bodyboarder riding a wave and then spots the surfer sitting on his board waiting for another wave. He doesn’t appear to know the shark is approaching.

When the surfer starts kicking his right foot in preparation to catch the wave, the sudden movement scares off the great white shark.
