Two men from the Island of Mudura are now in police custody after being caught by an angry crowd on Jalan Pantai Berawa in North Kuta and in downtown Denpasar after they snatched the handbag of a Czech Republic tourist, Aneta Tvrznikoba (27), on Friday, as quoted from Bali Discovery.
Metrobali.com reports that Tvrznikova was dining with friends at the On Warung at 2:00 am when a man approached to ask directions and distract the woman while he made off with her handbag.
Jumping onto a motorcycle driven by another man, the Madurese fled with the woman’s Iphone, Samsung phone, Rp. 1 million in cash, credit cards and hotel room key.
The victim estimated the value of all the items taken at Rp. 14 million.
As the thieves fled the scene with local residents in hot pursuit they lost control of their motorcycle and ended up in a local rice field. In an effort to make good their escape, they then abandoned the motorcycle in the fiel. Following a brief investigation by police, one of the men, Abdur Rosid (18) was arrested by police at 9:00 am on the same morning.
The motorcycle is now in police custody.
Police managed to trace and capture the second man, Haris Aifan (29), mid-day on Saturday, April 22, 2017, in the Gunung Agung area of Denpasar.
