The man approached the palace via the Jl. Medan Merdeka Utara entrance, which was tightly guarded by Paspampres and military police personnel, who immediately apprehended him, The Jakarta Post reported.

In a video uploaded on Facebook by a netizen with an account named Novita Sitinjak, it can be seen that the naked man attempted to escape from the three Paspampres members who caught him. According to the video uploader, the incident occurred at 7:35 a.m. Monday.

Gambir Police chief Ida Ketut said the police had received a report on the incident. It is suspected that the man wasn’t control his depression.

The man, identified by his initials BS (32), wasn’t in a normal mental state when he was being interrogated, possibly because he was depressed after his girlfriend passed away, Coconuts Jakarta reported.

“This is because he kept shouting as he attempted to enter the palace. He said: ‘I want to get married at the palace’,” said Ida.

“As far as I know, he once failed to get married because (his girlfriend) was of a different religion” BS’ brother, Kennedy said.
