Bali police arrested two Bulgarian citizens, Boris Georgiev and Marian Bogidarof Serafinoff on Saturday (16/9) for allegedly installing skimming equipment onto an ATM in the Lovina area.
“The arrests were made on Saturday, early morning at a BNI ATM on Jl. Raya Lovina, Buleleng, Bali,” Bali Police spokesman Hengky Widjaja said, as quoted from Coconuts Bali.
The pair allegedly installed a skimming device on an ATM machine that reads and copies customer data.
Evidence that was confiscated included one ATM skimming tool, mobile phones along with some phone cards, ATM cards, passports, and tens of millions of rupiah in cash.
“The alleged perpetrators are part of an international network and have something to do with other actors who have been arrested in Sukawati, Gianyar and other places,” said Head of Cyber Crime Unit of Special Crime Investigation Director, Kompol I Wayan Wisnawa, as quoted from Seminyak Times.
Police say they are still deepening their investigation into the case.
