Surfer Magazine just released Distant Shores, a short film about surfers traveling to the end of the earth, in search of some of the world’s most remote line-ups, for perfect and uncrowded waves.
In the midst of the surfing Mecca that is the Mentawai, lies a special gem, that is Greenbush. One of the archipelago’s most famous waves, the lefthand barrel machine is as dangerous as it is beautiful. Alluring with the promise of a 100m barrel, the stakes run high with its speed and a very dry last section is oh so tempting.

On the 5th of June, 16 brave souls ventured out to embark on the journey of the Bali International School Surf Camp 2012. This group consisted of both beginners and advanced surfers.

Everybody loves a holiday… particularly if it’s unplanned and coincides with swell. Thursday’s Hari Merah (red day – local jargon for public holiday) saw the swell drop off a bit on the Bukit, but this didn’t stamp out the fun. The annual surfer migration to Bali is in full-swing and the Bukit was swarming with people looking to score a few waves, preferably of the barrel-kind.

Indonesia’s best professional surfers at Keramas enjoying perfect barrels. A good South swell hit Bali, and the locals know to avoid the usual spots on the Bukit with conditions like these, and went to hit up the East coast. Plenty of reward in clean water and glassy barrels.
