On September 7, the Stokes Me Challenge started off with a splash during the Stokes Me Surf Contest at the Surf Expo Industry Party. Taking place at the infamous Typhoon Lagoon in Orlando, Fla., more than 3,000 partygoers cheered on the surf contest that consisted of 22 surf industry teams competing to win the crowds approval for the best surfed wave. The contest raised almost $13,000, which is approximately 5% of the Stokes Me Challenge overall goal of $220,000.

A new surf pool has been unveiled in desert sands. The Wadi Adventure is the Middle East’s first man made artificial wave park located at the base of Jebel Hafeet, in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.
The first public official artificial wave park in the world is being attacked by environmentalists, authorities and residents of the city of Bristol.
Wavegarden, the artificial wave concept developed in the Basque Country, will be installed in Bristol, United Kingdom. The coastal city will get the first installment of the man-made surfing wave park, in a £5 million investment. Wavegarden will make its debut in a 4,000 m2 area in Shirehampton, along the portway, near Sea Mills.
