The Lombok Strait separates Bali from Lombok and is the meeting point of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It also houses the Wallace Line, an east-west border that distinguishes Asian and Australian animals. More importantly to surfers, though, its endless currents and masses of moving water have sculpted the world’s most perfect reef, which houses […]
This article is a lie. In its 13-year history, there have been way too many amazing moments at the Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang to choose just five. And when Padang Padang awakens for this year’s Rip Curl Cup, we’ll undoubtedly see at least five more jaw-dropping turn of events that could make this list. […]
Here’s Lee Wilson and Chris Ward at Desert Point from just a few days ago. “A raw and unpredictable approach with an end product that one could stare at over and over again. He has been coming to Desert point for years. I was over here to surf this special wave on a Chilli Fader that I pulled off the rack, a board that I have grown quite fond of. This was my third time to Desert Point and the first time I’ve ever surfed it offshore. I hit up Wardo to see if he was down to collaborate on a piece. He was more than happy to. We went surfing, Carlo (Coral) documented. I’ve surfed some pretty good lefts in my life but nothing that comes close to this. A trip that was meant to be three days was cut short to one due to a wave driving my feet into the reef. This is what happened.” says Lee Wilson.
with the waters still the exclusive domain of the competitors, Jamie O’Brien, Chris Ward, Made Adi Putra and friends put on a master class in threading below sea-level barrels.

Biriatou’s Production made this clip featuring Bali’s Bukit Peninsula locals including Made Lana, Ketut Pitur, Made Lapur, Agus Blacky, Alik Rudiarta, Tumbling Adjuzh, Mega Semadhi plus several international chargers including Ry Craike, Ozzie Wright, Alvaro Malpartida, Mr DP, and 2012 Rip Curl Padang Cup champion Chris Ward, ripping the left land….
Yes, the surroundings are spectacular, there were plenty of hot girls in attendance and everyone was there having a good time, but we’d rather show you the best waves of the day
With a miracle wave in the dying seconds of the final, California’s Chris Ward pigdogs his way to Padang Padang title.
