Big scores and big upsets marked a historic day of pro surfing at the 2015 Fiji Pro as the field narrowed to the final eight.
On the outskirts of the Fiji Pro, the world’s best took to the opportunity to freesurf Restaurants.
John John Florence says that while filming on a boat trip he landed awkwardly on an alley-oop and injured his ankle. Though the World No. 7 is yet to officially withdraw from the Fiji Pro, his comments make it seem unlikely that he will be ready to compete by the start of the event window on June 7.
Stay tuned for more information on Florence’s status and other injury news on Michel Bourez and Stephanie Gilmore, who have already bowed out of Fiji Pro.k
Gabriel dominated the Final of the Fiji Pro. His foamball-wrestling 9.87 put him out of range of Nat Young, who looked like the only guy capable of getting near him this morning. After the shock of seeing Stu Gibson swinging in the breeze, Gabriel had taken off waaaay up the reef, past The Ledge and almost down to Vanuatu. Nat followed. They were miles out of position but Gabriel never wants to give up the first wave of the heat and if that means paddling off to New Caledonia then so be it.
