Noa Mizuno headed to Indonesia for some early October sessions. From Uluwatu, Canggu, and found the perfect left in Lombok. Along with filmmaker Marc Chambers, followed by Kayu Vianna into the heart of the most beautiful Indo beast.
Four minutes journey of the videomaker Kako Lopes through Java, Mentawais, Sumbawa, Lombok in 2016. This one featuring some of Brazil’s finest surfers Filipe Toledo, Yago Dora, Mateus Herdy, Icaro Ronchi, Kayu Vianna, and more.
Kayu Vianna is a Brazilian who moved to Bali when he was 3 months old. In this video he’s traveling to Desert Point, Supersuck, Uluwatu, and Nias to catch some perfect wave.
You may recognize some of the crew tackling the lefts above: Bali’s Made “Bol” Adi Putra is widely regarded as one of the finest surfers on the Bukit Peninsula, Kalani Chapman (Hawaii) and Dylan Longbottom (Australia) have been slaying waves over this reef for years, and Brazilian high-flyer Yago Dora is fresh but not a first-timer. Balinese-young-gun-with-Brazilian passport Kayu Vianna rounds out the pack, his razor-sharp goofyfoot game sure to impress many a first-time viewer.
Bingin, September 22. A weekend of epic waves at the Bingin Open & family gathering 2015 presented by hurley culminated with the champions crowned in perfect four-foot Bukit Peninsula tubes. Agus Dag Sumertayasa claimed the open division, Nyoman Pill Suartika won the masters, Mega Artana took out the pro juniors, Ketut Agus the juniors and Cinta Hansel the pro junior girls, with winners of both the pro junior and pro divisions earning a free trip to the Mentawais thanks to one of our sponsors, Seabourn Surf Charter.
It was a big system coming to Indo. In the beginning it looked very solid and in spite of not living up to these initial expectations the swell that rolled in was of a good size and with a long period. My intention was to go somewhere different, as every year Lakey Peak is getting more and more exposed. No doubt the waves are really good at Lakeys and you have plenty of options but I wanted to escape from the crowd and shoot other waves with the boys.
Quiksilver Indo team riders have made the most of pumping lefts at Padang Padang, to barrels at Keramas on the East coast, and consistent beachies from Padma to Canggu over the past 6 months. Check it out.
Do you know those days when the swell is too small to surf at Padang-Padang, the waves at Uluwatu are not really breaking at Outside Corner, and if you try to surf Race Tracks or Inside Corner some bigger sets would just wash through?
Those days are what we call the Bingin days.
Last Sunday we got to the beach around 11AM, and it was high tide. Waves were barely breaking with 2-3 ft sets coming through. Around 12:30 a good set of 3 or 4 waves barreled all the way to the channel and we decide to go out and snap some shots . A few minutes later some 8 footers were coming through producing what Padang is known for… Wide and heavy barrels. Check the photos and leave your comments.
IndoSurfLife.com was lucky enough to score a berth on the Aileoita 1’s maiden voyage of the year. Surrounded by friends, all keen, some green, we cruised around the archipelago in early April ready for a good time.
Sailing between spots we only saw about 6 other boats and relished the friendly or empty lineups in what truly is an idyllic locale. Even without a strong forecast, our guide managed to find fun waves all over and by the end of the trip everyone was beyond surfed out and inspired to plan a return visit. Live vicariously through our pics and book your own trip soon.
