Lakey Peterson was on a mission heading to Australia. After finishing the 2015 season ranked 6th in the world, she’s been priming her boards at perfect Rincon and psyching at home catching up on the latest videos from Snapper Rocks, where the Roxy Pro will get underway in a few weeks. Unfortunately now she won’t be there.
With the 2015 WSL Tour kicking off at Snapper Rocks, a few of the Top 34 and others explain the ins and outs of claiming. Claiming doesn’t make a 5 go to an 8, but if you need a 5.56, it’s a different story. Kelly Slater gives us the official rule to claiming. “Anything less than a 9 and you claim, you pay a 100 bucks,” he says. “And every point less than that is another 100 bucks on top of it.”
