The official launch of the premium Asian Surfing Championship’s Mentawai Pro kicked off yesterday in the Tourism Ministry Office in Jakarta.
The Asian Surfing Championships is delighted to announce their first-ever Premium event, the Mentawai Pro presented by Rip Curl, which will see the top 16 ranked ASC surfers competing with 7 international wild cards and 1 local trials winner at Lance’s Right on the island of Siporo in the world renown surfing mecca of the Mentawai Islands from April 21-29.

An incredible day of surfing kicked off the inaugural Indonesian Surf Competition 2011 today on the island of Sipora at Lances Right (also known as HT’s), with countless barrel rides in arguably the best contest waves seen in recent history. Rounds 1, 2, and 4 heats of Round 3 were completed in 4-6 foot.
