Founded by 11-time WSL Champion Kelly Slater and acclaimed designer John Moore, Outerknown is a coastal-minded clothing brand that explores the connections between style and sustainability. By viewing every aspect of their business through the lens of responsibility, they aim to protect natural resources, empower the people crafting their clothes, and inspire positive change within the industry. Outerknown’s versatile collection is built with innovative, organic, and recycled materials sourced from factories that share their values.
Earlier this year, surfing champion Kelly Slater chose not to renew his sponsorship contract with Quiksilver, after over two decades as the face of the troubled surfwear giant. Instead, he called up designer and fellow surfer John Moore (who was, this year, named American GQ Best New Menswear Designer for his surf lifestyle label M.Nii) to help him put his long held ambitions of launching his own brand into action.
Back in September, Kelly Slater properly announced his new brand, Outerknown. His Quik exit recently came as a surprise to a lot of people. His name had become nearly synonymous with the mountain and the wave logo, but back in April, after a quarter century of dining at the Quiksilver table, the Champ asked to be excused.
Kelly Slater has announced the name of his new ready-to-wear brand, Outerknown. Product will hit stores next Fall, 2015, with collections for both men and women.
