VQS Surf Tour 2013 – Round 1
The Volcom Qualifying Series tour has officially begun. This time, the VQS Surf Tour 2013 will not use a regional system, but rather a total point system. The grand prize will go to the winner of the Pro Am division. The surfer with the highest total points accumulated from all three events will get a chance to go to the USA to attend the 2014 VQS World final.

VQS Surf Tour 2013 will be started with Flyingfish at Padma Beach on April 28th, Grillfish at Balangan Beach on June 14th and ended with the final VQS Championships at Halfway Kuta Beach on September 8th

This North Shore local knows Pipe like the back of his hand and certainly proved his expertise in front of the crowd. Santa Cruz’s Nat Young (USA) scored a perfect-10 at his first ever competition at Pipeline. Dominant in the Northern California lineups, Young is about to start his rookie year on the ASP World Tour, and the Pipe Pro is valuable training.

Day two of the Volcom Pipe Pro will get underway at 8am HST this-morning in triple-overhead-plus surf. Waves will gradually decrease throughout the day, but the drama will not as the top seeds of the event take to the water.
Steely Day at Pipeline Signals Start of Volcom Pipe Pro
Pipeline was not friendly today with its gray skies, an unusually chilling wind, and a gnarly lineup of shifty waves. There were the occasional flashes of blue, but it was the kind of day that could only appeal to warriors of the $130,000 Volcom Pipe Pro, and they had no hesitation getting things rolling after four days of waiting for a start. The Volcom Pipe Pro is an ASP 5-star event that runs through February 7.

The fourth annual Volcom Pipe Pro, an ASP 5-Star World Qualifying Series (WQS) event, is setting up for another exciting showdown at the Banzai Pipeline. The 112 warriors are getting ready for battle at one of the most dangerous waves on the planet. They will be fighting for $130,000 in prize money and valuable ratings points to kick off the 2013 season. The 2013 contest period is from January 27th to February 7th.
